Dr Steffen Knodt is member of the board of the German Association for Marine Technology GMT / Hamburg, within the GMT he is accountable for offshore oil & gas and subsea technologies.
After completing his engineering studies at the RWTH Aachen / Germany he worked in various managing positions at the Fraunhofer IPT Aachen and gained his PhD in production technology from RWTH. Steffen Knodt held various senior management positions at Hilti, Aker Solutions / MHWirth and Maersk in applied research & development and technology & innovation. At Maersk Maritime Technology in Copenhagen / Denmark he was head of innovation and strategic R&D.
Currently Steffen Knodt has its own venture AIXlabs in Aachen as a maritime advisor for startups and corporates as well as academia and federal ministries. He also serves in the board of directors of the Deep Sea Mining Alliance DSMA in Hamburg / Germany and the advisory board of the MarMine project at NTNU / Norway on exploitation technologies for marine minerals on the extended Norwegian continental shelf.
Recently Steffen Knodt worked together with the Hamburg Institute of International Economics HWWI and Rambøll IMS on a study for the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy Division on the economic benefits of developing commercial deep sea mining operations in the German license areas for marine mineral resources.
